I was working on my taijiquan haiku series and then lost steam. Part of it was the double haiku’s weren’t all as strong as each other. I decided since that was holding me up to simplify and do one haiku per each. Again these are in no way meant to speak like the classics or be authoritative. But crafting them has given me time to really think and dig deep on each one. My ultimate plan is to put these to watercolor and calligraphy and hang them in my home office.
Peng
spine long and crown high
sunk deep buoyant chi fills
surging spring, root fed
Lu
the water wheel coils
lithely adhering, yielding
new path, found and filled
Ji
three pairs move as one
a sealed touch with no gaps
leads compressed wave forth
An
swift beneath the still
sinks to swell, dive, fill hollows
wave recedes - surges
Tsai
deep water made clear
fish darting among the roots
still heron spears true
Leih
hips unlock the door
a millstone set in motion
wood splits with the grain
Chou
already inside
hip the hub, elbow the rim
small circle one point
Kao
six harmonies timed
center replaces center
one sharp arrival
